Climate change and rural development in Georgia

Mercy Corps work in Georgia

The development charity Mercy Corps sent me out to Georgia in September 2013 to document the impacts of climate change as well as photograph their development programmes in rural communities.

Extreme weather is having a massive impact on agricultural productivity with high winds and rain destroying crops and eroding soil. Some of these images are of farmers and their families who have seen their livelihoods devastated by recent flooding.

I also visited school projects, an amazing cheese factory and met farmers who are improving their access to markets and incomes with support from Mercy Corps. This is a small selection of images from this trip.
